About Me
In addition to being a certified family nurse practitioner, I also was certified in functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2016. Functional Medicine is an individualized, science-based approach that empowers patients and providers to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. I believe that combining my traditional western medicine education along with the functional medicine model gives me the framework to provide holistic individualized care for my patients.
My approach as a provider is to carefully listen to each patient, as hearing their “story” is key to building trust, determining a diagnosis and developing a holistic treatment plan. I believe that lifestyle and environment play a key role in our health. Thus, when a patient is interested, I’m eager to work with them on identifying the root cause(s) of illness, rather than solely treating symptoms. My goal is to collaboratively work with patients to restore balance and health.
Besides working with my patients towards optimal health, I am passionate about cooking healthy delicious food. It is important to me to spend time outdoors hiking, gardening, and hopefully cross- country skiing now that I am back in the Pacific Northwest. I also enjoy reading and spending time with my two children and grandchildren.
